Civil War Encampment

 Saturday, July 13th

           9am  - 6pm             

               

  Travel back in time to the 1860’s with the Civil War Living History Encampment at Fort Knox. This event features Civil War living history demos including garrison fort operations, guard mount, cannon firing and camp life in the mid-1800’s.  Please see the website, social media for the most updated schedule of events.

 

  Join the 20th Maine Infantry Company B, 15th Regiment Alabama Volunteer Infantry, Company A as they converge on the battlefield to recreate skirmishes with muskets and cannons in tactical defense, assaults and advances in a battle for ground true to the period. Duo band Long Journey will perform old-time songs and camp tunes that kids can join in as well. Watch for updates and schedules to be published on the website & social media.

  Soldiers from the 3rd Maine Regiment Vol Inf, Company A &  6th Maine Battery kick things off with a boom! Troops recreate Civil War Fort life including period guard mount, drill, parade and firing demonstrations while Cannoneers from the 6th Maine Battery reenact gun crew functions with full size replica 10 pound Parrot Rifles.

Bucksport Fireworks

Saturday, July 20th, 2024

8:15pm - 9:30pm

 

The town of Bucksport’s annual fireworks display is launched from the Fort Knox wharves to light up the bay with rockets’ red glare off the water with Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge in the background. No public access at Fort Knox for this event.  Viewing is ONLY from the Bucksport River walk and docks near Main Street.

Wizarding Weekend at the Fort

Sat & Sun July 27 & 28th

                 10am to 4pm                 

 

Break out your wizarding robes! It is summer and magic is in the air! Come dressed as your favorite wizard (costumes welcome but no real weapons or dangerous props). Practice your incantations, potion mixing and hunt marvelous magical monsters. Seek wizard artifacts on a self-guided fun for all ages treasure hunt. Bring your spell books and wands to guard against the dark forces that have been unleashed at Fort Knox!

Ten Bucks Theatre again graces the stage at Fort Knox Historic Site celebrating their 15th year by performing Shakespeare’s Comedy; Henry the V. For four nights, the stage and parade field inside Fort Knox fills with blankets and camp chairs as fans fan out around the Ten Bucks Theatre http://www.tenbuckstheatre.org/ performers to be fully immersed in this timeless experience. Tickets on FB or @ www.fortknoxmaine.com or on the evening of the performance “at the door”.

Fort Knox Scottish Bagpipes  (pending)

The sounds of Scottish Bagpipes return to Fort Knox featuring traditional Scottish Military bagpipe and drum bands displaying their precision marching and coordinated movements while performing well-known and sentimental tunes. This year, Fort Knox welcomes Ernie Smith and the Wee Dram.

Ever heard that there is a Bigfoot creature in Maine?  Maine has many weird and wondrous secrets. Meet with enthusiasts, fans and professionals who believe in all things unusual.  Guest speakers include psychics, ghost hunters, cryptozoologists, and UFO experts who will demonstrate their gifts and provide presentations and lectures on their natural, unnatural and supernatural experiences from across Maine.

Ever been camping…in a 150-year-old fort…with professional ghost trackers?  Bring your tents and sleeping bags for an exciting all night ghost hunting experience with the 207 Paranormal Ghost Trackers. Guests become part of a paranormal investigation using high-tech night vision and sensor equipment while exploring every nook and cranny of massive Fort Knox. Then just try and get some sleep afterward after discovering what goes bump in the night is in the next room. Snacks, drinks and a light breakfast included. Limited capacity of 30 persons (minimum age of 18 or 12 if accompanied by an adult). Tickets pending.

Frightful Scavenger Haunt at the Fort

Oct 18th thru 30th

                10am - 4pm                      

 

Halloween fun during the day!  Spooks and monsters have taken over Fort Knox and we need your help to find them all! The Scavenger Haunt is geared toward the younger monster hunters who search through historic Fort Knox’s dark passageways and creepy rooms to check off their list.  All monsters are static props and decorations.  Find them all and come back to the Visitor Center for a bag of candy as your monster hunter reward! Coming in costume is welcome but no real weapons allowed!
